micro grid

Resiliency as a business model.

Microgrids provide resiliency.

"Resilience is all about being able to overcome the unexpected. Sustainability is about survival. The goal of resilience is to thrive." Jamais Cascio

Navigant Research identifies several new trends emerging in the global microgrid market as it moves toward becoming a $30.9 billion industry by 2027.

What is a microgrid:

“a group of interconnected loads and distributed energy resources within clearly defined electrical boundaries that acts as a single controllable entity with respect to the grid. A microgrid can connect and disconnect from the grid to enable it to operate in both grid-connected and island mode.” In the most common configuration."

Components of a microgrid:

Solar photovoltaic (PV) systems.

Combined heat and power units.

Advanced batteries.

Building load control.

Managed to intelligently adapt to changing loads and capacity characteristics.

Operating in parallel with the utility grid but can operate independently if the grid goes down.
